The course is focused on the epistemological branch of philosophy. This is the aspect that is concerned with the theory of knowledge, which is the development of the scientific enterprise. The course also focuses on the basic tenets of science as it existed in ancient times and it’s systematic growth to contemporary days.
- Course Description
The course is an introduction of students to Philosophy which is the act of critical thinking. The study would span ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary thinkers. These include thinkers such as Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Pythagoras, John Locke, Descartes, Dewey, William James, Marx and Schlick among others.
The course is aimed at clarifying the various misconceptions surrounding the word ‘’philosophy’’. The course assists the student to appreciate the relevance of in depth thinking in the acquisition of knowledge- as it applies to all fields of study, from ancient to contemporary times.
This programme is channeled towards exposing the students to the practical aspect of Entrepreneurship particularly the development of skills and to real issues in entrepreneurship. The aim is to make all the Covenant University graduates to be different from graduates of other institutions of higher learning. Section A of the Curriculum deals with the class room teachings on various relevant topics, with outline provided below. The Section B involves compulsory practical sessions which every student is expected to attend and register for a course of his/her interest.
